What's a Fundraising Night?

A Fundraising Night is a "cool" way to support a local school.  It's an event that's held at one of our local restaurants where for every customer that comes in between 4 and 9PM and mentions the school's name, e.g., St. Peter's School, the group will receive 20% of the total purchase.

Here's how it works:

The school would distribute flyers and posters.  McDonald's will design and pay for the cost of the printing.  The better job you do of giving everyone a flyer, the more money you will make.  How can you use these:  send one home with each student and leave a poster and flyers at local grocery stores, gas stations and mini-marts.  McDonald's®  will also hand out flyers.  The idea is to really get the word and the flyers out.

> It is the responsibility of the school to work with the local media in promoting the event.  How?  Encourage the local radio stations in the area to do public services announcements, send out a press release to all the media (radio and television stations and local newspapers), and ask the local television stations for public service announcements.

How else can the event be promoted?  Utilize the PA at schools, ask local businesses to put a message on their reader board, send a flyer to local churches to use in the weekly program?the list is endless.

On the day of the event, volunteers from your school will need to be on hand at the restaurant.  This can broken out into shifts.  It's an important element of the success of the night.  Volunteers can clean tables, serve drinks, and clean trays?and most important of all, tell customers as they come in the door or go through the drive-thru to say St. Peter's School.  It will not be a success unless you provide people to talk to customers as they come in the door (or drive up to the drive-thru window).  An information table can be set up in the lobby so everybody can learn about your program and your goals.  Also, the night of the event the local television stations and the local press to come and take pictures and do a story.

> And finally, after the event and it?s time to pass along the check, we ask that you set up a ?check presentation? picture with the local media.  We?re proud of helping organizations fundraise for a special need and we'd like to let everybody know.

The whole event can be a lot of fun and your school has the potential to raise additional dollars for your event!

Fundraising Nights are scheduled once per quarter on a first come, first serve basis?and no more than once per two-year period per school.   Call 315-782-8102 for more information.
